As summer approaches, the hottest journey for onchain builders worldwide has begun in Seoul. On May 7th, the Base Batch Workshop was held at Soho Lounge, marking not just another educational or networking event, but a true launching point for builders ready to open their next chapter.
Base Batches is a global builder initiative hosted by Base, an Ethereum L2 network incubated by Coinbase, targeting developers worldwide.
The workshop introduced the Base Batches program, sharing preparation methods and participation tips for the upcoming buildathon. The Base Batches Buildathon offers participants opportunities to experiment with and compete through various tracks, with 1-2 teams selected as winners per track. Available tracks include:
Amazing benefits await the winning teams. Each region offers up to 7.5 ETH in prizes, which 5-10 teams can receive. Winners join a special program providing additional support and opportunities to grow their projects. At Demo Day, there's potential for investment opportunities of up to $1 million. Additionally, winners can promote their projects through official Base channels and at Demo Day.
The philosophy of Base Batches is clear: "What builders need is inspiration, support, and community."
The workshop went beyond merely conveying information, with a practical focus that allowed participants to provide feedback on each other's ideas and develop concrete build plans.
Dokin, a global builder from Base Seoul, introduced the structure and track features of the ongoing Base Batches APAC, providing practical guidance on participating in the global buildathon.
The workshop also introduced AgentKit, built on Coinbase's developer platform SDK, demonstrating how AI agents can operate onchain with specific examples. It offered a glimpse into the potential of AI × Web3 convergence, exploring autonomous agent roles, secure wallet management, and advanced onchain function handling.
Following this, Taki, Product Lead at Lum0x, presented an analysis focusing on the direction for Base builders through 2024 Onchain Summer award-winning projects.
The presentation examined projects that won in four categories—Payment, Unplugged, Creator, and Social—analyzing the problems they aimed to solve and their implementation methods. This shared concrete building strategies based on real success stories.
Particularly notable was the in-depth coverage of AgentKit-based winners like Dex-aiagentkit, AgentStatuette, and UnitedStatesOfAgents, vividly demonstrating how AI agents can contribute to solving practical problems and improving user experiences.
Even participants unfamiliar with onchain agents found inspiration through the presentation, connecting it to their own ideas.
Most impressive was the community energy at the event. Participants introduced their backgrounds, shared failure cases, and exchanged practical advice on "how to build."
The spirit of Base's open builder community was palpable throughout. After the workshop sessions, participants shared what brought them to the workshop and what inspired them most, naturally transitioning into networking.
Base Seoul continues to grow with the community through new meetups and workshops every month. June promises even more practical programs and a broader builder network waiting for you.
